Your faith in me is what keeps me going
13-year-old Qusyairie moved into his grandfather’s home with his parents and two older sisters four years ago so the whole family could help care for his grandfather, who has diabetes. While managing their studies, Qusyairie and his sisters take turns doing household chores and caring for their grandfather. Qusyairie has been part of the Mentoring with Love Programme since Primary 3. Last year, when he was preparing for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) and struggling with mathematics, volunteers specially arranged for a teacher from the Teachers’ Association to tutor him. His sister also thoughtfully prepared reference books and kept a close eye on his studies, while the whole family cheered him on. With everyone’s encouragement, he successfully achieved a good result.
